Tshwane Metro Police Department Cable Theft Unit arrested six suspects in Centurion

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) continues to combat crime in Tshwane to ensure the safety of all residents.

On Tuesday, 11 March 2025, the TMPD Cable Theft Unit was patrolling in Centurion when they heard information about a suspicious event taking place at a nearby substation. The officers responded to the information and headed to the said location.

Upon arrival, six male suspects were found busy working on Fouriesburg Substation.

The officers requested forms of identification, the job card or permission letter for them to work on the substation.

The suspects had no job card or permission letter with them.

A duplicate key was used to gain access to the substation.

Relevant stakeholders were requested to the area and it was discovered that they started drilling through the wall and that cables were in the process of being installed.

The six suspects were arrested on charges of trespassing, damaging and tampering with essential infrastructure. They are detained at a local police station awaiting their court appearance.

The Chief of Police, Commissioner YCR Faro, applauds the members for their prompt and diligent work in responding to the complaint. Well done, team TMPD!
