A 13-year-old boy was found consuming alcohol after he was accused of setting his home on fire in Hazelmere.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to a house on fire at approximately 21:17. On arrival, Reaction Officers found that residents managed to contain the fire. Firefighters arrived shortly thereafter and extinguished the blaze. Teller contents of the home were extensively damaged.

It was alleged that a female was attending a party with her three children aged between 13 and 3 at a neighbours home. A some point, the woman informed her teenage son to escort his siblings back to their home and ensure that they are fed. The boy refused, but left the party with keys to his home. His house was found engulfed in flames shortly thereafter.

Neighbours set out in search of him and located the teenager consuming alcohol at a local tavern.
