Suspect behind bars with hijacked vehicle and unlicensed firearm in the Tembisa area
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison (CLU) Unit Officers, arrested male in the Tembisa area.
Following on information received from a reliable source, about a vehicle that was stolen during a business robbery, being spotted in the Entshonalanga section. Officers proceeded to a residence on Thabantso street, where the grey Renault hatchback was found and already fitted with false registration plates.
Officers conducted a systems check on the vehicle which came back negatively, belonging to an owner from Phutaditshaba. A body search was conducted and a black 9mm firearm, with one magazine and three live rounds of ammunition were found.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Tembisa Police Station, facing charges of possession of stolen vehicle and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He is expected to appear at the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
