Body of teenager recovered after fatal drowning
Fatal Drowning – Yesterday a multi-disciplinary rescue with the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) & other rescue organisations was conducted. The Western Cape Department of Health & Wellness EMS/AMS rescue helicopter was dispatched to Muizenberg beach for an air-sea rescue (ASR).
A shoreline search was conducted for a missing teenager in the water. A rescue swimmer was deployed from the helicopter after the teenager was spotted in the water. The teenager was then recovered and airlifted to shore.
Paramedics and rescue personnel initiated CPR, sadly resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the patient was declared deceased. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the teenager during this difficult time.
