Service station employee robbed outside a bank in Verulam CBD

A service station employee was robbed by a lone gunman outside First National Bank (FNB) on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene and met with an employee of a service station. He stated that he was walking to the bank approximately 50 meters away from his place of employment when he was confronted by a man dressed in a green shirt, green shorts and sandals.

The suspect grabbed his bag containing cash when the victim resisted. The robber produced a firearm and instructed the victim to release the cash. The suspect was seen fleeing down a pathway before he disappeared. It cannot be confirmed if a getaway vehicle was parked on Groom Street.

Reaction Officers are currently (Monday, 10:07) searching for the suspect.
