Man in court for possession of stolen vehicle

n the early hours of yesterday at 03:00, the police officers from Umhlali SAPS, Ilembe Rapid Response Team together with other law enforcement agencies embarked on an operation after information was received about a stolen vehicle that was traveling in the Umhlali area at a high speed.

The team proceeded to Palm Lakes in the Umhlali policing precinct where a vehicle was found parked at the premises. A 24-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for possession of the stolen property. The preliminary investigation conducted by police revealed that the vehicle was stolen on Snell Parade in Durban on 23 October 2020. The suspect will be profiled to check if he is linked to other cases where vehicles are stolen or robbed from the owners. He is appearing before the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court today.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula praised the team for the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
