Middle aged man arrested and suspected stolen batteries recovered

The South African Police Service in Makhado has arrested a middle aged man for possession of suspected stolen cellphone network batteries in an area outside Makhado.

On Saturday, 05 October 2019, police were tipped-off about a suspect who stole batteries from one of the network providers.

The suspect was immediately followed by a team comprising of Makhado SAPS Crime Prevention members, the detectives, Crime Intelligence with the support from the local security companies until he was cornered and arrested at one of the buildings in the area.

The following items were recovered during the arrest:

* 20 batteries

* Boltcutter

* Grinders

* Gas cutting torch

* Screwdrivers

* A white GWM motor vehicle

The suspect will appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police investigations are still continuing.
