Weather the storm: Protect your home and car this storm season

With the recent heavy rains, fierce winds, flash floods and hail storms, many properties throughout the country have suffered severe damage. By its very nature weather is unpredictable, so how do you safeguard your family and property? Indwe shares a few top tips to help you get prepared for the next big storm.

YOUR HOME

YOUR CAR

DURING A STORM

For your safety you should remain indoors until the storm passes, however, if you are in your car, drive slowly and keep a safe following distance. Turn on your headlights and if you pull over, switch on your hazard lights. Avoid parking under trees, rather try to find a bridge or covered car park and wait for the storm to pass. If you find yourself at an intersection or low bridge that is flooded, don’t drive across it as your car could be swept away.

Summer in South Africa is synonymous with thunderstorms and while the country needs the rain, no one wants to deal with damaged property and possessions. With a little home and car maintenance you can safeguard the things you care about. It’s also essential that you are adequately insured, so contact your Indwe advisor today on 0860 13 13 14 for advice or if you have any questions.
