Be vigilant and avoid deadly crashes into animals on the road!
Earlier today the Arrive Alive website received an email of a report to a serious collision into a bull on the N3 North near Pietermaritzburg. We would like to share this email:
One man was critically injured while another sustained serious injury in an accident on the N3 north near Pietermaritzburg. Reports from the scene indicate that the men were traveling towards Pietermaritzburg when a bull ran across the highway in front of them.
When the Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the dead bull and the twisted frame of the bakkie on the grass verge with the driver still trapped in the wreckage.
While firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the man medics clambered into the vehicle to stabilize him. After he was extricated and deftly immobilized on a trauma board, they transported him and his passenger to the Netcare St Anne’s hospital for the care that they required.
