Photos from the scene during fire at Mimosa Mall in Bloemfontein
Spent most of the day yesterday at the Mimosa Mall fire. A tedious task as access to the affected areas are very limited. After lenghty consultation and planning it was decided to break through one of the walls to gain access to an area that could not be reached.
Specialized equipment was used for this and once through the fire in this area could be properly extinguished and the area ventilated. Damping down and ventilation operations are still ongoing and the centre remains closed to the public till further notice. Damage amounting to millions has been caused by the fire. Forensic investigators are expected to start with investigations to the cause of the fire tomorrow.
